On Saturday, July 28th, the festival accelerated to its close with a jam-packed day of music from local artists and renowned nationally touring fan-favorites including The Wood Brothers and Billy Strings. With fans stationed at the venue day and night and taking full advantage of the overnight camping, the festival quickly took on a communal vibe. Attendees brought their instruments out in abundance, with campsites hosting picking parties and jam sessions late into the night and early into the morning. Per festival tradition, this joint camaraderie extended to the performers as well, with various acts taking full advantage of the talented on musicians on hand.Ahead of The Wood Brothers’ headlining set on Saturday night, the young and talented Billy Strings warmed up the stage after an already-full day of music. It was the first time many in the audience had gotten a chance to see the high-octane guitarist perform, and needless to say, fans were blown away.Setlist: Billy Strings | Ossipee Music Festival | Hiram, ME | 7/28/2018Set: Slow Train, Home of the Red Fox > Little Maggie, Dust in a Baggie > Thirst Mutilator > Dealing Despair, Turmoil & Tinfoil, Ain’t Nothin to Me, Pyramid Country > While I’m Waiting Here > Meet Me at the Creek > Train Train, On the Line > Train 45However, Billy Strings would later return to the stage during The Wood Brothers’ performance, helping the band out their standout encore of “Get Out My Life Woman”. With Strings on an electric guitar, the augmented band shredded through the Allen Toussaint cover, marking the perfect end to the evening. However, ahead of this encore, The Wood Brothers similarly impressed and were clearly on their game, offering a mix of classic tunes and newer material. Other highlights of their set included a cover of Tom Petty‘s “You Wreck Me” and a rendition of “Luckiest Man”, which saw the entire crowd singing along to its final verse and chorus.Setlist: The Wood Brothers | Ossipee Music Festival | Hiram, ME | 7/28/2018Set: Chocolate on my Tongue, Tried and Tempted, Keep Me Around, Loving Arms, Sparkling Wine, One Drop of Truth, Postcards From Hell, Laughin’ or Crying, One More Day, Angel Band, The Muse, Sing About It, ShooFly Pie, Happiness Jones, *You Wreck Me, Luckiest Man, Honey JarEncore: +#Get Out My Life WomanNotes: * Tom Petty cover | + Allen Toussaint cover |# With Billy Strings on electric guitarYou can check out photos from the Ossipee Music Festival below, courtesy of Vic Brazen. The Wood Brothers & Billy Strings | Ossipee Music Festival | Hiram, ME | 7/28/2018 | Photo: Vic Brazencenter_img Load remaining imageslast_img
