first_imgSign up for our COVID-19 newsletter to stay up-to-date on the latest coronavirus news throughout New York A Deer Park man was arrested for allegedly driving drunk after he crash his car, killing his 25-year-old passenger in Melville early Sunday morning, Suffolk County police said.Daniel Moreira, 27, was driving a Toyota Corolla westbound on the Long Island Expressway when his vehicle rear-ended a Toyota Tacoma near Exit 49 at 3:45 a.m., police said.His passenger, Ismelda Rodriguez, of Brentwood, was pronounced dead at the scene.Moreira was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, where he was admitted with non-life-threatening injuries.The otherdriver of the Tacoma, 60-year-old Terry Doughan of Kings Park, was not injured.Moreira was charged with  driving while intoxicated. He will be arraigned on a later date.Vehicular Crime Unit detectives impounded both vehicles, are continuing the investigation and ask anyone who may have witnessed this crash to call them at 631-852-6555.
