We will work on adult education in the tourism and catering sector, retraining and additional training, which we have not been able to do so far due to the limited space of our school space. ” said the director of Zabok High School Draženka Jurec and said that Zabok High School, half of whose 600 students attend programs in the tourism and hospitality sector, plans to introduce new occupations. Zabok Regional Center of Competence in Hospitality and Tourism is one of 6 regional centers in hospitality and tourism, but the only one between Opatija and Osijek, in the continental part of Croatia, where the largest number of catering schools and more than half of all students enrolled in hospitality. It is a project worth HRK 33,44 million, of which HRK 30 million is a grant from the Operational Program Competitiveness and Cohesion, and the works on the reconstruction and extension of the school should begin in the spring of 2021 and end in 2023. “The value of this project cannot be measured in millions, what we will get with it is invaluable, not only for Krapina-Zagorje County but for all counties of northwestern Croatia, Zagreb County and the City of Zagreb and for our economy, hoteliers, spas and caterers. because we will be able to create the quality staff that is needed for the future development of tourism in these areas”, Said Zeljko Kolar, prefect of Krapina-Zagorje County. “We have chefs, waiters and catering technicians, we did not enroll confectioners due to space constraints, but this year we enrolled as many as 50 students of chefs and waiters. I believe that the interest and number of students will increase by about 20 percent. We will also introduce new occupations, for confectioners and occupations for two years for students with certain developmental difficulties”Concluded Jurec.
