first_imgTHE funeral takes place later today for Bobby Rodgers, the Newtowncunningham man killed in a car crash on the N14 on Sunday.Mr Rodgers, who was just 21, died at the scene of the incident when an Opel Astra car he was travelling in crashed.The driver and another passenger were seriously injured in the crash. No other vehicle was involved. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at All Saints Church, Newtowncunningham at 12 noon, followed by burial in the adjoining cemeteryHuge numbers of young people have been paying their respects to a young man described as “extremely funny” and “one of the best” at the family home in Newtown.One of them sent in this poem in his memory.And we publish it here again below: For Bobbywe miss u more then u could knowwe miss your lovely smile,the way you used to make us laughand make everything worth while.the way you did the “sackett wobble”that no one else can do,the way you made us laugh so muchjust by being you.we think about you nowand dream of you at night,just picturing your cheeky grinmakes everything all right.we often sit and wonderwhy we did not say goodbye,to say the things we needed tothe day you learnt to flywe know your always with usalthough we are apartbut Bobby we all love youforever in our hearts.
