She is accused of buying furniture, large appliances, bedding and decorative items using credit cards that were in a wallet Peele found in a local supermarket and returned to the owner, a Valencia resident, sheriff’s detective John Howard said Wednesday. “The victim who lost the wallet started getting charges on her credit cards,” Howard said. “She found out from one of the stores where they shipped the items and recognized the address as where she went to retrieve her wallet. Then she called us to report it.” Peele was booked Monday at the Santa Clarita sheriff’s station where she remained in custody Wednesday. She was charged with two counts of grand theft by access card. She did not enter a plea at Wednesday’s arraignment, where a Jan. 5 hearing was set to review her $20,000 bail.
